Practical Faith - “From Sibling to Slave” (Jn 7:1-5)
This Sunday morning at Maple Hill we will start a series on the very practical book of the Bible called “James.” It is a book that is written by one of Jesus’ siblings. Wouldn’t that be amazing to grow up as Jesus’ brother? How wonderful would it be to know Jesus so intimately and have that kind of access to Jesus?
While growing up with Jesus might seem incredible, James’ journey to faith was a complicated one. He did not immediately believe Jesus was the Messiah. In fact, at one point he thought Jesus was out of His mind.
Yet, by the grace of God, James came to faith. However, when he did, James did not tout his sibling status. Instead, James humbled himself, revealing to everyone that being associated with Jesus is not enough. We must all humble ourselves before the Lord the lords.
As we kickoff our 2025 theme “Stewards of His Grace,” we will see a principle that is at the core of this theme: We must all submit to the Lordship of Jesus, no matter who we are.
Join us this Sunday at Maple Hill!
